How will therapy help me?
The majority of people I help are extremely hard on themselves. Before coming to therapy they spent most of their energy on trying to please others and leave little or no time for themselves. We will say goodbye to your insecurity and worry and hello to confidence and calm.
How do I get started?
Getting started can often be the most exciting parts of the therapy process. It is normal to feel a mixture of relief and discomfort about beginning to open up about the things that are troubling you.
Please email me or call me to set up a free fifteen minute phone consultation. I will ask you questions such as: What would you like to get out of our work together? What is it that you need help with? We will then decide if I am the best fit for your needs or I will try to recommend someone who is.
I also will ask that you fill out and review the initial consultation paperwork and bring it in to our first visit.
How long will it take for me to see results?
I offer long and short term therapy. The length depends on the individual and their goals. Some choose to come in for a few sessions to work on small goals or to prepare for an upcoming life transition. Others come in to work on deeper issues that may take longer to address.
What is your treatment approach?
I have been specializing in working with girls and young woman for over twenty years. My approach highlights peoples strengths, is highly interactive and motivating. The kind of therapy that I specialize in is evidence based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. In addition, I utilize expressive therapy (art, music, sand tray) to help individual’s process emotions and change unhealthy behaviors.
What should I do if I am feeling out of control or in danger?
My practice is not an acute-care facility and I do not handle emergency calls or crisis intervention. If you're feeling out-of-control or suicidal, please immediately call 911 or go to an emergency room.
What are your fees and hours?
I accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicaid - Husky insurance.
If I am not in network with your policy, I can provide you with a “super bill” you can submit for out-of-network benefits, which can cover part of your investment. My rates are $130 for the first 60 minute initial consultation and thereafter $100 for 50 minute individual sessions.
I offer appointments on Monday and Tuesday's from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In addition, I hold hours one Saturday a month from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
What happens if I miss a session or don't show up?
I have a 48 hour cancellation policy and appreciate advanced notice for cancellations or scheduling changes as this allows for others clients to be seen that may be waiting for an appointment. A charge for your full session is applied when appointments are missed or cancelled with less than 48 hour business day (M-F) notice. All clients are asked to keep a copy of their credit card info on file which will be automatically charged for sessions that are not cancelled 48 hours in advance or no shows.
